Hot tub lodges near Dundee

Dundee is a good base for a short break, but the hotels in the city centre do not come with a tub on the terrace. The stays on this page do. They are lodges, cottages and converted barns in the countryside around the city, listed nearest first so you can see at a glance how far each one is from the centre. Distances are straight-line miles from the middle of Dundee, so your drive will be a little longer by road.

Where the nearest ones are

West of the city the closest stays are around Invergowrie and Longforgan, on the edge of the Carse of Gowrie, both an easy run in to Dundee. Further up the hill, Abernyte and Newtyle sit in and below the Sidlaw hills, with open views and a quieter feel. To the north and east the choice stretches towards Kirriemuir, Forfar and the Angus coast around Carnoustie, which is the more natural base if you also want a round of golf or a beach walk.

What there is to do from the door

The reason to stay near Dundee rather than deep in the glens is the city itself. V&A Dundee on the waterfront is the obvious first stop, and RRS Discovery, the ship Captain Scott sailed to Antarctica, is moored next to it. Dundee Law gives you the view over the Tay, and the Tay Road Bridge takes you across to Fife in a few minutes. After a day of that, a wood-fired or private tub back at the cottage is a much better ending than a hotel bar.

Picking between a lodge, a cottage and a barn

The cards show the bedrooms and the tub type, so use the filters: two people looking for a quiet weekend will want one or two bedrooms, while a family or a group of friends needs the larger houses, some of which sleep eight or more. If you are travelling with a dog, tick Dogs welcome. If you want to walk to a pub, tick Near a pub.

If you would rather be further into the hills, our Perthshire hot tub lodges page covers the next step out, and the Pitlochry guide goes further still.

Booking

Press Check Prices & Availability on any stay to go to the holiday company’s booking page, where you pick your dates and see the total. Midweek and outside school holidays is usually where prices are kindest; the nightly figure on each card is the guide price from the feed, not a quote for your dates.

Questions guests ask

How far from Dundee are these hot tub stays?

Each card on this page shows the straight-line distance from the centre of Dundee. The nearest are on the western edge, around Invergowrie and Longforgan. The furthest on the list are about 15 miles away.

Can I get to Dundee without a car from these lodges?

Most of them are in the countryside, so a car is the realistic way to get around. Ask the owner about the nearest bus stop or station before you book.

Are there hot tub stays with dogs welcome near Dundee?

Yes. Tick Dogs welcome in the filters to see only those, and read the owner’s rules on the stay page for the number of dogs and any charge.

Is a hot tub near Dundee private?

Many are, and the card tells you. Some are wood-fired and a few are shared and booked by the hour. If the listing does not say, the card just says hot tub.
