Step through the front door into the entrance hallway and pop off your walking boots and jackets before finding the sitting room. The village stands above 120ft cliffs, which provides an elevated viewpoint over the North Sea, while below there is a pebble beach, an old and partly derelict harbour and some fascinating rock architecture. There is superb walking and cycling along the coastal routes with superb views accompanying you, as well as the wide range of wildlife. Take a 20 minute car drive to the stunning sandy beach at Lunan, a favourite with surfers and horse riders, there is a medieval castle and a cave to explore here. Head into Arbroath and stroll along the sandy beaches as the taste of salty sea fills the aroma before dining at one of the first-class restaurants, including the The Old Boatyard restaurant which serves a delicious fresh seafood menu. History buffs will love exploring the imposing Guthrie Castle, set in landscaped grounds and dating back to the 15th century, it provides a great opportunity to learn about the local heritage. Further afield lies the bustling coastal city of Dundee, which benefits from access to a large number of art galleries and museums detailing Scotland's heritage. Blue Skies Cottage is a lovely choice for a family or couple seeking a retreat to Scotland’s east coast.
